My job involves a wide range of responsibilities, and one of the most important is developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs). These plans are carefully crafted to meet their strengths, challenges, and preferences and these tasks involve observing them closely, gathering data, and collaborating with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure that the learner receives the necessary support.
As a Resource Teacher, I provide modified learning instructions in subjects like reading, writing, and mathematics, and guide them with the available visual tools to help them understand and communicate. I collaborate with classroom teachers so they know how to help the learner as well. I'm always looking for ways to make learning more engaging, accessible, and enjoyable for my learners.
Another crucial part of my job involves developing and implementing classroom management strategies to help them sustain their motivation and participation. They are taught how to manage their emotions and respond well to their peers. I'm always looking for ways to help my learners develop strong social skills and a sense of independence to finish their tasks.
As a Resource Teacher, I'm also responsible for assessing the progress continually and making necessary updates to my service plans as needed. I collaborate with parents, other teachers, and professionals to develop and implement effective strategies to sustain their learning and participation, and I attend meetings, workshops, training sessions, and professional advancement programs so I can better serve my learners.
All in all, my job as a Resource Teacher is all about helping them succeed academically and socially. Through developing and implementing individualized education plans, providing instruction and support, collaborating with other professionals, and maintaining accurate records of progress, I'm able to make a real difference in the lives of my students, and that's something that I'm truly proud of.
